Finally my Hungarians are ready for a game, having painted enough to make a solid 1000pt list. I organised to chuck dice with my good mate Kieth on his new and spectacular Ostfront urban table, we knew this was going to be something special. So I recorded it to share with you guys. In honour of the armies involved and the stunning table we were playing on, we decided to set the game sometime during the brutal 3 month siege of the Hungarian capital, Budapest, in winter 1944. Can the desperate Hungarians hold back the Stalinist hordes or will the city fall?

Indian Army Project - Part 1
The forces of the British Empire where compiled of men and women from all over the globe. Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Indians, Ghurkas, and Sikhs, to name a few, all fought against the forces of Japan and Germany. With more than 2.5 million men under arms, the Indian Army was the largest volunteer army in the history of humanity. While most people remember the men who fought with Sikh and Ghurka regiments, there is very little attention paid to the average India soldier who fought in places like Ethiopia, the Middle East, Burma, India, North Africa, Italy and Greece. By wars end, more than 70,000 Indians were killed or wounded. Indian troops served with honor, with 4,000 of them receiving awards for bravery, including 38 Victoria Crosses.

Unofficial Royal Hungarian Army Supplement
Hey guys, Anfernee and Bryan here with something a little different for today's article. We want to share with you a passion project from us that you may find useful and fun for your Bolt Action games as well. After a year of researching, painting and playing with our Hungarian armies, we have certainly noticed the many missing historically fielded units. Rather than complain, we thought we would get off our behinds and put our goulash where our mouth is and produce our own completely unofficial additional units PDF. Read on for our design notes and thoughts on the Royal Hungarian army in Bolt action. Did we mention this was unofficial?
The Boltion.net unoffical Armies of Hungary additional units PDF can be downloaded here.

Painting Windshields On (Field)cars And Trucks

Old Man Morin here with a quick tutorial on how I paint the windshields and windows on vehicles for Bolt Action. Yes, I know it is bright and cartoony but that is the point. I like that vehicles that I paint are bright and "pop" on the tabletop. As a few people on our FB page asked if I could do a walk through of my process. I thought I would share.

Bolt Action Radio number thirty-five brings together Anf, Bryan and Judson for a bit of a reunion. Recently, the two goulash lovers had released an unofficial supplement for the game - a much needed expansion for the Hungarian army list! Together with Judson, they go over what first drew them to their Hungarian addiction. After, they delve into a bit of the research involved in uncovering additional units for the nation, and how the history made its way onto the page. Be warned - listening to this episode will probably compel you to start a heavily-mustachioed new army!

Painting German Gaiters (The Old Man Morin Way)
Hey Gang,
Old Man Morin here. For years I was know for painting and playing with one army... Germans. In fact my obsession with painting German gaiters was been a running joke on various podcasts and Facebook pages for some time now. A few friends have gone back through old podcasts and have actually requested a tutorial on how I actually painted gaiters way back when (ok... I still paint em like this).
Now I understand that most gaiters will not look like mine. I took a quick look at a few pictures of Germans soldiers and based my method on pictures like this:

I then use a fine detail brush (or something equivalent) to paint very thin lines at the top and bottom of the gaiter area. I use GW’s Nurgling Green. It has nice coverage and goes well with the grey/green uniforms of my Germans.
From there, I very carefully paint in one to three parallel lines depending on the gap between the top and bottom lines. Without fail I will make mistakes in this process so I usually have to go back and neatly black line between the top and bottom green lines.
Sure they look a bit stripe-y up close up but on the table top they look great (at least I think so).
Thank you for checking in!

Examining The Trenchworx T-28
Hey Gang,
For those of you following The Tanks in Manchuria Kickstarter, you may be asking about Trenchworx, the company running the project. We at Boltaction.net have watched Trenchworx start out as a 3D printing hobby project on our forums and evolve over time into the maker of some truly beautiful resin kits. A little while ago I got my paws on their new T28 kit and it has taken me a little time to get it done and I am glad to share my thoughts about this glorious monster of a tank.Read more »

Bolt Action Season Two
Boltaction.net is gearing up for another exciting season of format. With the wildly successful Season 1 almost done we are moving on to Season 2. Season 2 will include changes to the Season 1 format and introduce some new format rules of its own. For those not familiar with the Boltaction.net format, every six month the Boltaction.net crew is putting out a set of rules adjustments to be play tested. Now that Bolt Action has been out for almost three years many veterans have found several rules issues which we all hope are addressed in the far distant Version Two of Bolt Action. The format is a community effort to play test through some simple rules ideas and hope that one day we can had our research over to influence the future of the game. Format is also intended to try to bring balance to the games unbalanced bits.
